Meltingly Delicious Scottish Tablet Ice Cream

There are very few things that can top the taste of homemade ice cream, but this homemade Scottish Tablet ice cream takes it to a whole new level.

Perfect for summer, this recipe is the perfect amount of sweet with a bit of crunch of our handmade tablet. All you need is an ice cream maker and a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crumbled Gardiners Scottish tablet.

Method

  1. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Once the mixture is just beginning to simmer remove it from heat.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined and let the cream mixture cool to room temperature.
  4. Once cooled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Once the ice cream is churned, fold in a healthy dose of the crumbled Scottish tablet until evenly distributed throughout the mixture. (The beauty of homemade ice cream is that you can add as much as you want!)
  6. Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
  7. Serve the Scottish Tablet Ice Cream in a bowl or ice cream cone, and enjoy the sweet flavor with delicious bites of Scottish tablet throughout!
