You will need…

1 cup of Gardiners of Scotland Fudge – whichever flavour you’d like
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt

Instructions

Step 1 – Prepare the fudge
Cut the fudge into small pieces to help it melt more evenly and quickly.

Step 2 – Melt the ingredients

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the fudge pieces, heavy cream, and butter.
Stir constantly until the fudge and butter are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3 – Add vanilla and salt

Once the mixture is smooth, remove the saucepan from heat.
Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Step 4 – Cool slightly

The perfect finishing touch to your homebaking.

Take your homemade buttercream to the next level with our meltingly delicious fudge buttercream frosting. Perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and more, it’s the ultimate finishing touch to any baking creation.

Ingredients you’ll need…

1 cup of Gardiners fudge (whatever flavour you like)
1 cup, unsalted and softened butter
3-4 cups icing sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2-4 tablespoons of milk

Step-by-step instructions…

Step 1 : Melt the fudge
Begin by melting 1 cup of Gardiners fudge. Place it in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until it’s smooth and fully melted. Allow the fudge to cool to room temperature but ensure it remains pourable.

Step 2 : Cream the butter
In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup of softened unsalted butter using an electric mixer on medium speed. Continue until the butter is creamy and smooth, which should take about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3 : Incorporate the fudge
Pour the cooled, melted fudge into the creamed butter. Beat on low speed until the mixture is well combined and smooth, ensuring the fudge is evenly distributed.

Step 4 : Add vanilla extract
Mix in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Step 5 : Blend in powdered sugar
Gradually add 3-4 cups of powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Beat on low speed initially to prevent a sugar cloud, then increase to medium speed. Beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.

Step 6 : Adjust the consistency
To achieve the perfect texture, add 2-4 tablespoons of milk or heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until your desired consistency is reached. If the frosting is too thick, add more liquid; if it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar.

Step 7 : Fluff It Up
For the final touch, continue to beat the frosting on medium-high speed for an additional 2-3 minutes. This will ensure your fudge buttercream frosting is light, fluffy, and ready to spread or pipe onto your favorite treats.

Storing your frosting…

Keep any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Before using again, let it come to room temperature and re-whip to restore its fluffy texture.

4 creative ways to use fudge (that aren’t just eating it).

While fudge is a perfect sweet treat, for on the go or with a hot drink or even just on it’s own, it’s actually also very versatile. Whether you’re a home baker looking to add a special touch to your creations or simply want to indulge in something delicious, fudge offers endless possibilities. Here are four creative ways to use it (that aren’t just eating it).

The perfect finishing touch to your homebaked cakes

Nothing says “celebration” quite like a beautifully decorated cake. Fudge can add that extra wow factor with its rich flavor but also take your cake décor to the next level. Simply melt and drizzle it over the top of your cake for an elegant finish. You can also chop it into small pieces and sprinkle it over frosting.

Chopped fudge pieces on your ice cream

Transform a simple bowl of ice cream into a meltingly delicious dessert by adding chopped fudge pieces. The contrast of the creamy ice cream with the chewy fudge creates a delightful texture and flavour combination. You can even experiment with different flavours to complement your ice cream. This easy addition will make any ice cream feel like a special treat.

Fudgy pancakes

Start your day on a sweet note by topping your pancakes with fudge. Simply chop and sprinkle it over a stack of hot pancakes for a decadent breakfast. The warmth of the pancakes will cause it to melt slightly, creating a deliciously gooey topping. For added flavor and texture, sprinkle some chopped nuts or fresh berries on top. This indulgent breakfast option is perfect for weekend mornings or special occasions.

Fudge Sauce

Melt with a bit of cream over low heat, stirring until you achieve a smooth, pourable consistency. This rich sauce is perfect for drizzling over ice cream, cakes, waffles, or even fruit. It can also be used as a dip for strawberries or pretzels. The possibilities are endless, and the result is always delicious.

Fudge is more than just a treat to enjoy on its own – it’s a versatile ingredient that can add to your desserts in many ways. Try these ideas to make the most of your dessert.

When it comes to classic desserts, few can match the comforting appeal of a homemade apple pie.

Adding a delightful twist with toffee bits brings a rich, caramel flavor that complements the tartness of apples perfectly.

Ingredients

1 prepared pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

For the filling…

900 grams sliced and peeled apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
100 grams granulated sugar
50 grams brown sugar
30 grams (2 tablespoons) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
75 grams of meltingly delicious Gardiners Butter Toffee (chopped into pieces)
30 grams (2 tablespoons) butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

Prepare oven and pie crust
Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).Line a 9-inch pie dish with the prepared pie crust, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides evenly.
Prepare apple filling
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss until the apples are evenly coated with the sugar mixture.
Add toffee pieces
Gently fold in the toffee bits or chopped toffee pieces into the apple mixture.
Assemble the pie
Pour the prepared apple and toffee mixture into the lined pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
Dot the top of the filling with small pieces of butter. This enhances the richness and texture of the filling as it bakes.
Bake!
Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. The crust should turn golden brown, and the filling should become bubbly and fragrant.
Check and cover if necessary
If you notice the crust browning too quickly during baking, loosely cover the edges with aluminum foil. This prevents them from burning while allowing the pie to continue baking evenly.
Cool and serve
Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour. This resting period allows the filling to set, ensuring cleaner slices when serving.

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply craving a comforting treat, this toffee apple pie recipe offers a slice of homemade goodness that’s impossible to resist. Happy baking!

At Gardiners, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality fudge to our customers.

Our decision to individually wrap each piece isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s a reflection of our commitment to quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction.
Here’s why we believe individually wrapping each piece of fresh fudge actually makes a difference…

Freshness and flavour

Fudge is a delicate delight that can easily lose its moisture and flavor if not properly stored. By individually wrapping each piece, we ensure that the fudge remains as fresh as the day it was made. This protective barrier prevents exposure to air, which can cause the fudge to dry out and lose its rich, creamy texture. As a result, every bite you take is bursting with the full, decadent flavor that our fudge is known for.

Extended shelf life

Individually wrapping each piece of fudge helps extend its shelf life. The wrapping acts as a barrier to environmental factors such as humidity and temperature fluctuations, which can affect the quality of the fudge. By protecting each piece, we ensure that it stays fresh and delicious for longer, reducing waste and giving you more time to enjoy your treats.

The perfect gift

Our individually wrapped fudge pieces are not only practical but also add a touch of elegance to our product presentation. They make wonderful gifts, whether for holidays, birthdays, or any special occasion. The beautiful wrapping makes each piece feel like a small, luxurious present, adding to the joy of giving and receiving.

The Most Important Reason…

Each piece of fudge can be put into your pocket for a meltingly delicious treat on the go. That way, if you’re hungry having a bad day, or just craving a sweet treat, you know we’re nearby.

At Gardiners, we believe that every piece of fudge you enjoy should be as perfect as the first, and our meticulous wrapping process is a key part of achieving that goal. If you’re yet to try some, you can shop our range here.

If you’re a fan of both scones and fudge, then you’re in for a delightful treat!

These fudge scones combine the best of both worlds, offering a rich, fudgy experience for the perfect sweet treat. Imagine biting into a soft  scone with luscious chunks of fudge melting in your mouth. Sounds heavenly, right?

Ingredients

250g self-raising flour
25g unsweetened cocoa powder
100g granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
115g unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
100g Gardiners Fudge (Chopped into smaller pieces)
120ml milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven…
Start by preheating your oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to ensure the scones don’t stick.
  2. Prepare the scone dough…
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. This will ensure all the dry ingredients are well combined and free of lumps.
  3. Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. The little chunks of butter are what will give your scones their flaky texture.
  4. Incorporate the fudge pieces…
Gently fold the fudge pieces into the flour and butter mixture. Be careful not to overmix, as you want to keep the fudge chunks intact for delicious pockets of gooey goodness in your scones.
  5. Combine wet ingredients…
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, being cautious not to overwork the dough. Overmixing can lead to tough scones.
  7. Shape the scones…
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a circle about 2.5 cm thick.
  8. Use a knife or a bench scraper to cut the dough into 8 wedges.
Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 5 cm apart to allow for spreading as they bake.
  9. 6. Bake the scones…
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the scones are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. They should have risen beautifully and developed a slight crust on the outside.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the scones cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

These fudgy chocolate-dipped strawberries are perfect for Valentine’s Day, a special occasion, or just a sweet indulgence.

Ingredients:

  • 400g high quality fresh strawberries
  • A 100g bar of your favourite chocolate
  • A tin of Gardiners fudge
  • Optional: Flaky sea salt, chopped pistachios, or anything you would like to garnish with.

Instructions:

Prepare the strawberries: Gently wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly. Pat them dry with paper towels, ensuring no moisture remains, as this can cause the chocolate to seize. Remove any leaves or stems.

Melt the chocolate: In a double boiler or heat-resistant bowl set over simmering water, melt the chocolate and coconut oil together, stirring constantly, until smooth and glossy. Do not overheat, or the chocolate can scorch.

Dunk your strawberries: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Holding a strawberry by the stem, dip it into the chocolate mixture, coating it evenly about two-thirds of the way up. Gently tap the strawberry against the bowl to remove excess chocolate. Let any remaining chocolate drip back into the bowl.

Repeat and chill: Repeat the dipping and garnishing process with all the remaining strawberries. Refrigerate the dipped strawberries for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.

Melt the fudge: Once the strawberries have chilled, in a separate double boiler melt some of your fudge of choice. Once liquid, drizzle the fudge on the strawberries.

Garnish (optional): Immediately sprinkle with your desired garnish, such as flaky sea salt, and place back in the fridge to set completely.

Serve and enjoy: Once chilled, remove the strawberries from the refrigerator and serve immediately. The chocolate will soften slightly at room temperature, creating a delightful contrast with the juicy strawberries.

  5. Next, you’re going to fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and keep mixing until you get the perfect cookie dough consistency.
  6. If you’d like to, you can add chocolate chips at this stage (we highly recommend you do).
  7. Now the fun part – form cookie dough balls, and hide a square of #meltinglydelicious golden ginger fudge in each. (Chefs privileges mean you get to have a piece of fudge, or two, at this stage)
  8. Pop your cookies in the preheated and bake for 9-11 minutes or until they are crisp on the outside and gooey in the middle.
  9. This is where we exercise our will power and let the cookies cool completely.
  10. This step is by far the easiest – just serve and enjoy your golden ginger fudge cookies.

Fudge Ice Cream

For some, making ice cream is their go to special thing.  For others, they just want to take their dessert to a whole new level.  So if you like the idea of taking your ice cream to a new level, sprinkle some fudge over it.  Not convinced?  How about this.  Vanilla Ice Cream with a sprinkling of our very own Malt Whisky flavoured fudge.  Convinced yet?  Thought so.  You are welcome.

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Can you improve on Chocolate Cake?  Of course you can.  By adding some meltingly delicious fudge cubes into the mix.  What flavour of fudge you go for is entirely up to you.  And adding a few cubes or shavings of fudge on the top of the cake is only going to add to the visual delight.

Next to your coffee

A warm cup of coffee is made even more special with a sweet treat next to it.  And what sweeter treat is there than a cheeky piece of fudge.  With so many flavours of fudge, it’s not like you have to stick with one.  You can mix and match, experiment and refine.  If you are having a diner party then what better way to finish off with a lovely coffee matched with a Whisky flavoured fudge.
